Knots In My Yo-yo String

Knots in My Yo-Yo String is an autobiography written by Jerry Spinelli. The book describes the life of Jerry Spinelli from the time he was a kid to the time he was a senior in college. This book describes Jerry´s character, feelings, and the way his life was. The author wrote this book in his adulthood, all this stories inside Knots in my yo-yo string took place in Norristown, Pennsylvania.
The tittle of the book is related to the story because when he goes to high school everything begins to go wrong and not being able to get out like having knots on your yo-yo string, each knot represents a problem.
This story has twenty four chapters, and each chapter is based on an event that happened in his life.
When he got to high school, he had nothing. When his dog died, he gave up all he had, so he began to write stories. He continued writing, but not being able to find a publisher.
He went to college and still was writing, each time more. After college he got married with a lady that already had six kids. Those six kids made Jerry Spinelli had his first successful story. The story talks about how the six kids ate his food without him knowing, this made him famous.
“Lash La Rue,” was the chapter I enjoyed the most. It tells us about how everybody loved being Roy Rogers at a cowboy game, but Jerry wanted to be different than others (original), he chose to be Lash La Rue a cowboy that is not well known.
My favorite line was:
“I was off with the gun. My memory of those fifty yards has nothing to do with sprinting but rather with two sensations. The first surprise is that I could not see any runners. This lead to a conclusion: I must be ahead! Which led to the second sensation: an anxious expectation, a waiting to be overtaken? I never was. I won.” (18% Kindle). This line caught my attention because it was hilarious how he wasn´t expecting to win, but when he realized he was first he couldn´t believe it.
